Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.2 just reported 93 km south of Pelabuhanratu, Indonesia 4.2 quake 21 Oct 1:53 am (GMT +7) Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in Indonesia near Pelabuhanratu, West Java, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Thursday, October 21st, 2021, at 1:53 am local time at a shallow depth of 11 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.2 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Pelabuhanratu (pop. 43,000) located 93 km from the epicenter.
