The UP government on Friday transferred DIG Upendra Kumar Agarwal, heading the SIT probing the incident to Gonda. However Agarwal will continue to supervise the investigations. The UP Police headquarters termed Agarwal's transfer a routine exercise. Eight people were killed in violence that erupted in Lakhimpur Kheri during a protest demonstration by farmers on October 3.
