A moderately shallow magnitude 4.3 earthquake was reported in the morning near Chiba, Chiba-shi, Japan.
According to Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), the quake hit on Friday, October 29th, 2021, at 8:59 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 61.8 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
