An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred around noon on Friday, November 5th, 2021, at 1:55 pm local time near Hamamatsu, Hamamatsu-shi, Shizuoka, Japan, as reported by Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a great depth of 370.9 km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms.
