Moderate magnitude 4.4 quake hits 84 km northeast of Ishqoshim, Tajikistan after midnight

India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported a magnitude 4.4 quake in Tajikistan near Ishqoshim, Ishkoshim, Gorno-Badakhshan, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit after midnight on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, at 12:58 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Khandūd (pop. 5,500) located 32 km from the epicenter.
