Webmaster Launch Director Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 678,977 Los Angeles, USA	Magnitude 4.6 earthquake strikes near Jeremie, Jeremi, Grandans, Haiti 4.6 quake 21 Dec 9:53 am (GMT -5) An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 13 minutes ago 22 km southeast of Jeremie, Haiti, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter near Jeremie, Jeremi, Grandans, Haiti, in the morning on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021, at 9:53 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Jeremie (pop. 97,500) located 22 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Baradères (pop. 1,700) located 32 km from the epicenter, Moron (pop. 1,800) 36 km away, Port-a-Piment (pop. 3,800) 41 km away, Abricots (pop. 1,200) 42 km away, Les Anglais (pop. 8,200) 44 km away, and Dame-Marie (pop. 6,000) 53 km away.
