Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck near Pangkalan Brandan, Kabupaten Langkat, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Monday, March 7th, 2022, at 9:44 am local time, at an intermediate depth of 101 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Pangkalan Brandan (pop. 25,500, 100 km away), and Langsa (pop. 54,500, 102 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
