Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.4 reported 92 km southwest of Taltal, Chile

An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 occurred early morning on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at 5:04 am local time near Taltal, Antofagasta, Chile, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 23.4 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
