Just 10 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near San José de Jachal, Departamento de Jáchal, San Juan, Argentina. The tremor was recorded early evening on Tuesday, August 9th, 2022, at 7:28 pm local time, at an intermediate depth of 87 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.7.
