Magnitude 3.5 earthquake strikes near Loja, Granada, Andalusia, Spain

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred only 25 minutes ago 7 km east of Loja, Spain, Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 1 km beneath the epicenter near Loja, Granada, Andalusia, Spain, in the morning on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022, at 7:44 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera, IPMA), which listed it as a magnitude 3.4 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 3.5, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 3.5.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.

Weak shaking might have been felt in Loja (pop. 21,600) located 7 km from the epicenter.
