Track Limits Set to ’Regular’ Ruins the Featured Events Experience

I used to love tryharding the featured events and last years espors quali events. Even though I’d never achieve a competetive result, they where a fun way to challenge myself, exploring the fastest way to the finish while also trying to figure out the best strat through traffic. Then seeing how I compared on the leaderboard.

But it is completly ruined and pointless by track limits locked to ’regular’. It just forces you to cut every corner, and instead it becomes a challenge of figuring out how far off track do I need to drive to be competetive.
Iirc there were a couple of events last year that also was locked to regular, but thankfully it quickly changed to strict, after some (many) people complained about it.
But for some reason it’s back again.

The fact that there’s a ”clean laps” point bonus in the result score, is just painfully ironic.

Last weeks featured event at Canada was a perfect example of a great event made awful by track limits.

The guy who scored top spot on PS shared his run yt, and its painful to watch how he’s forced to abuse this (otherwise) fantastic race track.

And to be clear: No blame to him. No one can fault him for having to cut every corner in order to achieve this (super impressive) points result.
It is the rules/event settings that says we don’t have to drive on track, to find the fastest way around the track.

Imo it’s such a small detail that completly ruins a challenge that can be (and have been before) so much fun.
