Small magnitude 3.6 quake hits 9 miles west of Brigham City, Utah, United States early morning 3.6 quake 12 Nov 6:45 am (GMT -7) The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.6 quake in the United States near Brigham City, Box Elder County, Utah, only 12 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Saturday, November 12th, 2022, at 6:45 am local time at a very shallow depth of 3.6 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 3.6 earthquake as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 3.6, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 3.6, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 3.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Corinne (pop. 690) located 5 miles from the epicenter, and Brigham City (pop. 18,800) 9 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include North Ogden (pop. 18,400) located 18 miles from the epicenter, Ogden (pop. 85,400) 23 miles away, Logan (pop. 50,400) 24 miles away, Roy (pop. 38,000) 25 miles away, Clinton (pop. 21,400) 27 miles away, Clearfield (pop. 30,700) 29 miles away, and Syracuse (pop. 27,400) 30 miles away. In Salt Lake City (pop. 192,700, 54 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
