Just 31 minutes ago, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Leinster, Leonora, Western Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded late at night on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, at 11:23 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.4 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.4.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Leinster (pop. 1,300) located 13 miles from the epicenter.
