Magnitude 3.3 earthquake strikes near Matalam, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 3.3 quake in Indonesia near Matalam, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, 31 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at 10:02 pm local time at a shallow depth of 12 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.3 earthquake as well. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.3.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Gili Air (pop. 1,800) located 6 km from the epicenter, Gili Trawangan (pop. 1,500) 11 km away, Senggigi (pop. 5,000) 18 km away, and Matalam (pop. 318,700) 25 km away. In Praya (pop. 35,200, 41 km away), Karangasem (pop. 31,900, 58 km away), Amlapura (pop. 31,900, 60 km away), and Bedugul (pop. 20,000, 61 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
