Small magnitude 3.9 quake hits 4 km southeast of Jujuy, Argentina late at night

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.9 quake in Argentina near Jujuy, Departamento de Doctor Manuel Belgrano, only 27 minutes ago. The earthquake hit late at night on Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at 10:27 pm local time at a shallow depth of 25 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.9 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Jujuy (pop. 305,900) located 4 km from the epicenter, and Palpala (pop. 48,200) 8 km away.
