The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.8 quake in Japan near Saitama, Saitama-shi, 34 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, at 8:44 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 60 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), which listed it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake as well. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.8.
