4.3 quake 19 Jun 8:26 am (GMT +3)

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 4.3 quake in Romania near Târgu Jiu, Municipiul Târgu Jiu, Gorj, only 28 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Monday, June 19th, 2023, at 8:26 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from Romania's National Institute for Earth Physics (NIEP) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.2. Other agencies reporting the same quake include Hungary's Seismological Observatory (Hungarian National Seismological Network) at magnitude 4.2, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.3.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Arcani (pop. 1,400) located 1 km from the epicenter, and Runcu (pop. 5,800) 4 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
