Another perspective and shard of truth came to me the other day when I was watching Lady Gaga interviewed on Gaga By Gaultier.

It was brought up in the interview how once, when she first began performing publicly in nightclubs, everyone in the audience was talking and not listening to her. So finally she stripped off her clothes and stood naked, which stopped the talking and got the audience's attention. The point for her was to get the audience's attention so they would listen to her music, her creation, interpretation and performance. She realized the power in shock value.

Shock plays an important role in waking up the sleeping or disinterested. It is so much easier to just "sleep", not pay attention, cruise on auto-pilot.

I also found it inspiring (and a shard of truth) that she constantly reinvents herself. I relate it to not holding onto the past whether it be style, comforts, ideas, old photos, ideas and ideals, but to keep looking forward, moving forward, reinventing and expressing in unique ways. That keeps the momentum of the shock going, keeps the intention focused, refreshes, delights, invigorates.

It's a great example of flow. Always seeking something different - change. Allowing the present to flow into the past and out the back door as the current moment is lived and the future is reached toward.
