An earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred only 7 minutes ago 24 km northwest of Aosta, Switzerland, the Swiss Seismological Service (SED) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter near Aosta, Valla d'Aosta, Aosta Valley, Italy, late at night on Thursday, August 17th, 2023, at 11:10 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
