Back in December we had some mean rain and storms in Brisbane that made my Motek go nuts. When I tried to fix the problem I seemed to make things worse. Now all I have is the FTA channels on B3 & PAS8 (couldn't be bothered reprogramming the other sats). PAS8 seems fine, but I cant get any of the vertical TP's on B3 only the horizontal ones. WHY??? Although the UBI FTA channels are fine, I can't watch any of the Globecast channels. Please help...

Regards,
Paja

Paja
What Box are you using to watch Pas 8 and B3? So you can pick up all the KU stuff on Pas 8 In Horz no problem, and you can pick up UBI FTA on Optus B3 on Horz no problems, but you cannot pickup the Globecast on B3 in Vertical.
Check the Signal of both Satellites to see if both are ok, and If Pas 8 is OK, UBI on B3 is ok but you have nothing on Globecast I would be checking the setting in the reciever for Globecast on Vertical.
Phil
Back tomorrow arvo

Hi Phil,
Thanks for taking an interest in my dilema.
I've got a Fortec 5100 Ultra blind scan receiver
Zinwell 0.3db 9750/10600 universal LNB
90cm dish and a Moteck sg2100 motor.

Prior to me taking matters into my own hands, I used to get all the FTA Ku channels from PAS2 to NSS6. Right now the only 2 sats I'm interested in are B3 & PAS8.
I can get all the channels (horiz & vert) on PAS8, but on B3 I only get the horizontal ones.
Checked all the settings again, they're ok.
The only thing I can think of is that the LNB may be slightly out of whack? I dunno....

Thanks in advance,
Paja

Play with it (on B-3) and you'll find the best position for V & H polarisation. I had a little problems with my LNB getting Croatian TV (Hor.) and BN TV (Hor.)

It must be that, or "MOTKA" (Moteck) needs replacement

Pajo,

Your Motek is not set up correctly. I'll attempt to give you a couple of hints on getting the Motek set up correctly, but first before I go ahead, you need to find out your approximate coordinates, perhaps with a GPS?

If your in Brisbane proper the coordinates of the Airport will do...lets see...Ok

YBBN
S27 23.0 E153 07.1

Ok here is the deal.

1. Turn your STB on and go up to the roof.
take a small mirror with you and with the buttons on the motek adjust it so the arrow points to zero. (The more precise you are the easier it is to set up.)
Now with a sharp object (needle) press and hold the reset button, which is in a hole right next to the green light. The light will flash red 3 times and that’s step one.

2. Now come down from the roof and go to the STB. In your satellite menu move the motor left. If your dish moves left then you have The Southern version. If it moves right then you have the Northern version of the motek.

Go to the USALS menu and in your location put it:
For Southern version
Longitude : 153.1E
Latitude : 27.4S

For Northern version
Longitude : 153.1E
Latitude : 27.4N

That’s step 2

3. Tell your receiver to use USALS and tune into a OPTUS C1 Transponder. Go back on the roof now and confirm that at this point your motek should have moved around 3 degrees to the east (you can verify this with your mirror. By the way, don't brake the mirror...its 7 years of bad luck .

4. Adjust the Motek elevation (on the Latitude scale) as close to 27.5 as you can. This should equate to around 62.5 on the elevation scale.

Now adjust your dish elevation to as close as possible to 25.4.

5. Make sure that the dish is fastened to the middle of the moteks arm (there is a line down the centre of the arm).

6. The LNB cable should be pointing to 5 O'Clock, when you stand in front of the dish and looking towards the Dish.

7. Go behind the dish now and loosen the screws of the motek and ever so slowly move it left and right from what you know is true north (I think it's 12 degrees West of Magnetic North (compass)).
With a bit of luck you should get some signal at this point!.

Good luck!!!

Vlad...
