An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred 33 minutes ago 20 km south of San Jose, Costa Rica, reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near San Jose, San José, Provincia de San José, Costa Rica, early evening on Monday, December 18th, 2023, at 6:35 pm local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
