Small magnitude 2.9 quake hits 21 km southwest of Glogow, Poland early evening 2.9 quake Poland Jan 6, 2024 06:03 pm (GMT +1) An earthquake of magnitude 2.9 occurred only 5 minutes ago 21 km southwest of Glogow, Poland, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Glogow, Głogów County, Lower Silesia, Poland, early evening on Saturday, January 6th, 2024, at 6:03 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sieroszowice (pop. 420) located 5 km from the epicenter, Polkowice (pop. 21,600) 13 km away, and Glogow (pop. 68,500) 21 km away. In Lubin (pop. 77,500, 25 km away), Nowa Sol (pop. 40,400, 34 km away), Bolesławiec (pop. 40,700, 36 km away), Legnica (pop. 106,000, 39 km away), and Goldberg (pop. 16,600, 44 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
