Approximately 870,000 foreign nationals gained US citizenship in the fiscal year 2023, ending on September 30, 2023, which is around 100,000 fewer than the previous year's figure of 970,000 new American citizens. Among the new citizens, 110,000 were Mexicans, constituting 12.7% of the total. India held the second position as the leading source country for new citizens, with 59,100 individuals (6.7%) acquiring US citizenship. Those born in the Philippines accounted for 5% of the new Americans, totaling 44,800 individuals.
