Small tremor of magnitude 3.4 just reported 52 miles south of Carlsbad, New Mexico, United States 3.4 quake 54 Km S of Whites City, New Mexico, Mar 4, 2024 04:31 pm (GMT -6) The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.4 quake in the United States near Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico, only 8 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Monday, March 4th, 2024, at 4:31 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 5.7 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.4 as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Malaga (pop. 150, 42 miles away), Loving (pop. 1,400, 46 miles away), Van Horn (pop. 1,900, 51 miles away), and Carlsbad (pop. 29,000, 52 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
