The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 5.1 quake in Mexico near Puerto Madero, Tapachula, Chiapas, only 19 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at 7:56 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
