Small magnitude 2.9 quake hits 30 miles south of Robe, South Australia, Australia early morning 2.9 quake 14 Sep 1:47 am (GMT +9) Just 24 minutes ago, a 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Robe, South Australia, Australia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Saturday, September 14th, 2024, at 1:47 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 5 miles below the surface. The event was filed by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 2.9 earthquake as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Beachport (pop. 580, 21 miles away), Southend (pop. 250, 26 miles away), Robe (pop. 1,100, 30 miles away), and Millicent (pop. 4,900, 38 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
