Just 2 minutes ago, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Dornbirn, Vorarlberg, Austria. The tremor was recorded early morning on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, at 3:15 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 2 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the Swiss Seismological Service (SED), the first seismological agency to report it.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Dalaas (pop. 980) located 3 km from the epicenter, and Schruns (pop. 3,800) 9 km away.
