Webmaster Launch Director Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 678,977 Los Angeles, USA	Magnitude 3.7 earthquake strikes near False Pass, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA 3.7 quake 48 km NNW of False Pass, Alaska, Oct 20, 2024 10:43 am (GMT -8) A magnitude 3.7 earthquake near False Pass, Aleutians East, Alaska, USA, was reported only 20 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at an intermediate to considerable depth of 141 miles beneath the epicenter in the morning on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at 10:43 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.7 as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In False Pass (pop. 40, 30 miles away), and Cold Bay (pop. 120, 41 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
