Small 3.0 quake hits near Tennant Creek, Barkly, Northern Territory, AustraliaAn earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred 32 minutes ago 23 miles southwest of Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, Australia, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Tennant Creek, Barkly, Northern Territory, Australia, in the morning on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, at 9:58 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Tennant Creek (pop. 3,200, 23 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
