Indonesia was shaken near Banda Aceh, Kota Banda Aceh, Aceh, by an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 only 8 minutes ago, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 14. km beneath the epicenter near Banda Aceh, Kota Banda Aceh, Aceh, Indonesia, early evening on Friday, March 7th, 2025, at 6:42 pm local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
