Moderate magnitude 4.3 quake hits 39 miles west of Anchor Point, Alaska, United States around noon The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.3 quake in the United States near Anchor Point, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Thursday, March 6th, 2025, at 1:42 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 65 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.4 earthquake. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Anchor Point (pop. 1,900) located 39 miles from the epicenter, Diamond Ridge (pop. 1,200) 49 miles away, Homer (pop. 5,500) 50 miles away, and Fritz Creek (pop. 1,900) 58 miles away. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
