Moderate tremor of magnitude 4.2 just reported 62 miles east of Sand Point, Alaska, United StatesThe European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in the United States near Sand Point, Aleutians East, Alaska, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, at 2:25 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 23 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Perryville (pop. 110) located 51 miles from the epicenter, and Sand Point (pop. 1,100) 62 miles away.
