Small magnitude 2.8 quake hits 27 km southeast of Saint-Nazaire, France early morning

Just 12 minutes ago, a 2.8-magnitude earthquake struck near Saint-Nazaire, Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire, France. The tremor was recorded early morning on Sunday, March 16th, 2025, at 6:11 am local time, at a shallow depth of 25.98 km below the surface.
The event was filed by France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.4.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In La Bernerie-en-Retz (pop. 2,300, 6 km away), Saint-Nazaire (pop. 67,100, 27 km away), Challans (pop. 18,900, 28 km away), La Baule-Escoublac (pop. 17,800, 34 km away), Coueron (pop. 19,500, 34 km away), Saint-Herblain (pop. 46,900, 38 km away), Reze (pop. 39,200, 43 km away), Orvault (pop. 25,300, 44 km away), and Nantes (pop. 318,800, 45 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
