Significant magnitude 5.8 quake hits 91 km southeast of Kirakira, Solomon Islands around noon

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Kirakira, Nakumwe, Makira-Ulawa Province, Solomon Islands, was reported only 10 minutes ago by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter around noon on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at 12:58 pm local time.
