Magnitude 4.1 earthquake strikes near Tirana, Bashkia Tiranë, Albania A magnitude 4.1 earthquake near Tirana, Bashkia Tiranë, Albania, was reported only 9 minutes ago by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 5. km beneath the epicenter in the morning on Friday, June 27th, 2025, at 8:59 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) at magnitude 3.9, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.2, The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 3.8, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH) at magnitude 3.6, and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.2. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Fushe-Kruje (pop. 10,500) located 4 km from the epicenter, Nikel (pop. 9,500) 5 km away, and Kamez (pop. 11,000) 10 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Kruje (pop. 21,300) located 11 km from the epicenter, Tirana (pop. 418,500) 17 km away, Lac (pop. 24,800) 21 km away, Durres (pop. 122,000) 24 km away, Kavaje (pop. 29,400) 31 km away, and Burrel (pop. 15,400) 32 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lushnje (pop. 41,500) located 57 km from the epicenter.
