Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.6 just reported 42 km east of Ambon, Indonesia An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred only 6 minutes ago 42 km east of Ambon, Indonesia, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10. km beneath the epicenter near Ambon, Kota Ambon, Maluku, Indonesia, early afternoon on Thursday, July 10th, 2025, at 3:50 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Ambon (pop. 347,300) located 42 km from the epicenter, Amahai (pop. 47,700) 57 km away, and Masohi (pop. 36,400) 65 km away.
