Small magnitude 3.7 quake hits 13 miles southwest of Hesperia, California, United States early morning An earthquake of magnitude 3.7 occurred only 5 minutes ago 13 miles southwest of Hesperia, California, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 6.6 miles beneath the epicenter near Hesperia, San Bernardino County, California, USA, early morning on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, at 2:00 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.7 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.7. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Lytle Creek (pop. 700) located 4 miles from the epicenter. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Hesperia (pop. 93,300) located 13 miles from the epicenter, Rancho Cucamonga (pop. 175,200) 15 miles away, Fontana (pop. 212,700) 16 miles away, Rialto (pop. 103,100) 16 miles away, San Bernardino (pop. 216,100) 18 miles away, Victorville (pop. 122,200) 19 miles away, and Ontario (pop. 171,200) 19 miles away. In Los Angeles (pop. 3,898,700, 47 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
