Magnitude 3.6 earthquake strikes near Melipilla, Provincia de Melipilla, Santiago Metropolitan, Chile

An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 occurred only 15 minutes ago 22 km southeast of Melipilla, Chile, The National Seismological Center (Centro Sismológico Nacional, CSN) of the University of Chile reported.
The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 71. km beneath the epicenter near Melipilla, Provincia de Melipilla, Santiago Metropolitan, Chile, early morning on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025, at 4:48 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.6 as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage.
