Small magnitude 3.0 quake hits 1 miles southwest of Bulahdelah, New South Wales, Australia in the morning An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 11 minutes ago 1 miles southwest of Bulahdelah, New South Wales, Australia, Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5.5 miles beneath the epicenter near Bulahdelah, Mid-Coast, New South Wales, Australia, in the morning on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at 7:49 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.1. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Bulahdelah (pop. 1,500) located 1 miles from the epicenter. In Tea Gardens (pop. 2,800, 17 miles away), Hawks Nest (pop. 1,300, 17 miles away), Tuncurry (pop. 6,300, 25 miles away), Forster (pop. 13,700, 25 miles away), Taree (pop. 16,400, 38 miles away), Newcastle (pop. 348,500, 43 miles away), and Maitland (pop. 67,100, 43 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
