Moderate magnitude 4.7 quake hits 114 km northwest of Ternate, Indonesia in the evening

An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred only 10 minutes ago 114 km northwest of Ternate, Indonesia, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 23. km beneath the epicenter near Ternate, Kota Ternate, North Maluku, Indonesia, in the evening on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026, at 8:26 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
