Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.1 just reported 39 km northeast of Lisbon, Portugal Just 10 minutes ago, a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Lisbon, Distrito de Lisboa, Portugal. The tremor was recorded around noon on Thursday, February 19th, 2026, at 12:14 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 14.60 km below the surface. The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.6 earthquake. A third agency, Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.6. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Meca (pop. 1,700) located 2 km from the epicenter, Vila Franca de Xira (pop. 18,400) 14 km away, Azambuja (pop. 21,400) 16 km away, Torres Vedras (pop. 24,400) 18 km away, Loures (pop. 66,200) 29 km away, and Odivelas (pop. 54,600) 33 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Amadora (pop. 178,900) located 39 km from the epicenter, Queluz (pop. 103,400) 39 km away, Lisbon (pop. 517,800) 39 km away, and Cacem (pop. 94,000) 40 km away.
