Small earthquake of magnitude 3.8 just reported 42 km south of San Jose, Costa Rica

An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 occurred in the morning on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, at 9:55 am local time near San Jose, San José, Provincia de San Jose, Costa Rica, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 49.35 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
