Small magnitude 3.7 earthquake 11 km northeast of Salerno, Italy The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 3.7 quake in Italy near Salerno, Province of Salerno, Campania, only 4 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the evening on Monday, April 20th, 2026, at 8:47 pm local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 287. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In San Cipriano Picentino (pop. 2,500, 3 km away), Salerno (pop. 125,800, 11 km away), Battipaglia (pop. 47,100, 15 km away), Cava De Tirreni (pop. 53,100, 17 km away), Nocera Inferiore (pop. 45,600, 22 km away), Avellino (pop. 48,100, 23 km away), Castellammare di Stabia (pop. 66,200, 35 km away), Torre del Greco (pop. 85,300, 45 km away), and Naples (pop. 909,000, 55 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
