Small magnitude 3.9 quake hits 21 miles west of Anchor Point, Alaska, United States in the morning An earthquake of magnitude 3.9 occurred only 3 minutes ago 21 miles west of Anchor Point, Alaska, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported. The quake hit at an intermediate depth of 59 miles beneath the epicenter near Anchor Point, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, USA, in the morning on Sunday, May 10th, 2026, at 10:59 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.9 earthquake as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Anchor Point (pop. 1,900, 21 miles away), Happy Valley (pop. 590, 28 miles away), Diamond Ridge (pop. 1,200, 31 miles away), Homer (pop. 5,500, 32 miles away), Fritz Creek (pop. 1,900, 40 miles away), and Cohoe (pop. 1,400, 58 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
