An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred in the morning on Monday, June 1st, 2026, at 7:40 am local time near Nikolski, Aleutians West, Alaska, USA, as reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
