Small magnitude 3.9 quake hits 48 km southeast of Vlore, Albania late at night Just 28 minutes ago, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Vlore, Bashkia Vlorë, Qarku i Vlores, Albania. The tremor was recorded late at night on Monday, June 8th, 2026, at 10:56 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 5. km below the surface. The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.9 as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) at magnitude 3.8, The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS) at magnitude 4.1, The Seismological Laboratory of the University of Athens (UOA) at magnitude 3.8, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 3.8. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Himare (pop. 4,600) located 13 km from the epicenter, Tepelene (pop. 12,000) 19 km away, Brataj (pop. 2,800) 21 km away, and Gjirokaster (pop. 23,400) 24 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Delvine (pop. 6,200) located 30 km from the epicenter, Sarande (pop. 22,600) 34 km away, Vlore (pop. 115,300) 48 km away, Patos Fshat (pop. 22,700) 57 km away, and Patos (pop. 16,000) 62 km away.
