Small magnitude 3.7 quake hits 24 miles south of Los Lunas, New Mexico, United States in the morning A magnitude 3.7 earthquake near Los Lunas, Valencia County, New Mexico, USA, was reported only 19 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered the key international and national agency that monitors seismic activity in the US. The earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles beneath the epicenter in the morning on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, at 11:38 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.7 as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Abeytas (pop. 56) located 1 miles from the epicenter, and Jarales (pop. 2,500) 11 miles away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Rio Communities (pop. 4,700) located 14 miles from the epicenter, Belen (pop. 7,200) 14 miles away, Los Lunas (pop. 15,300) 24 miles away, and South Valley (pop. 41,000) 39 miles away. In Albuquerque (pop. 564,600, 44 miles away), and Rio Rancho (pop. 87,500, 54 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
