Small tremor of magnitude 3.2 just reported 32 miles southeast of Mutawintji, New South Wales, Australia An earthquake of magnitude 3.2 occurred early morning on Friday, June 19th, 2026, at 3:20 am local time near Mutawintji, New South Wales, Australia, as reported by Geoscience Australia (GeoAu). According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 6.2 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2 as well. According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Mutawintji (pop. 34, 32 miles away), Wilcannia (pop. 780, 34 miles away), and Little Topar (pop. 36, 49 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
