Small magnitude 3.0 earthquake 5 km west of Chrzanow, Poland An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 4 minutes ago 5 km west of Chrzanow, Poland, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 6.40 km beneath the epicenter near Chrzanow, Chrzanów County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland, around noon on Friday, June 26th, 2026, at 12:19 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Libiaz (pop. 17,800) located 4 km from the epicenter, and Chrzanow (pop. 40,000) 5 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Jaworzno (pop. 96,500) located 8 km from the epicenter, Trzebinia (pop. 18,800) 10 km away, Myslowice (pop. 72,100) 14 km away, Oswiecim (pop. 34,200) 14 km away, Sosnowiec (pop. 227,300) 23 km away, and Katowice (pop. 287,000) 26 km away. In Krakow (pop. 804,200, 44 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
