Moderate magnitude 4.7 quake hits 47 km southeast of Sarmi, Indonesia early afternoon

An earthquake of magnitude 4.7 occurred early afternoon on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at 2:16 pm local time near Sarmi, Sarmi Regency, Provinsi Papua, Indonesia, as reported by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a moderately shallow depth of 64. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
